Many years of enjoyment to come with this one-of-a-kind hand knotted vintage Turkish Sparta design rug made in Turkey circa early 1960's. Stepped diamond shaped center medallion with concentric minor medallion adorned at either end by double tiered finials atop a tone-on-tone repeating shadow styled germinating plant and vine design motif. Main border in a top view pomegranate design motif in alternating panels of germinating plants. Colors and shades include: Powder blue, sky blue, ivory, dusty mauve, turquoise, dark chocolate brown, and more. Condition notes: Mostly even wear across to knot heads with small isolated areas of foundation showing through. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. Multiple areas of professional restoration to the main field. For processing purposes, this and other rugs of the type may have painted numbers on the reverse side.
